GIVE TO GLAD TIDINGS CHURCH

GIVING FAQ
1. What does it mean to tithe? The word “tithe” means “a tenth” or 10%. In the Old Testament God required of His people that they give 10% of all of their increase. The “best part” (some translations say “first fruits”) would be like us giving God a tenth of our gross income. God promised to bless His people if they faithfully obeyed His command.

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!" (Malachi 3:10 NLT)

2. Does the New Testament require believers to tithe today? There is no place in the New Testament where tithing is specifically commanded. What God does ask is that believers give proportionally, according to how they have been blessed. For some this may mean well beyond a tithe. God does expect our giving to be consistent and generous.

Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. "For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia. 2 On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once. (1 Corinthians 16:1, 2)

3. When I give at Glad Tidings Church, how is that money used? All of the giving at Glad Tidings goes to meet the operating costs of the church. This includes the salaries of all the staff, mortgage, maintenance, property upkeep costs, utilities, technology and communications expenses, missions and community outreach, and all ministry needs.

4. How can I give at Glad Tidings Church? There are three ways you can give. You can pick up a box of envelopes with an assigned number at the Welcome Center. You may also sign up for online giving here,  or you may sign up at your bank for automatic giving and a check will be sent to Glad Tidings on dates that you establish. You will be given a receipt of your giving at the end of the year.

5. Can I receive charitable contribution credit for my giving? Giving to Glad Tidings Church is tax deductible. If you choose to give in one of the three ways listed in #4, you will be given a receipt of your giving at the end of the year that may be used for this purpose.

6. May I support a specific ministry or missionary through my giving? While the Bible seems to indicate that our tithe should be given first and should be given to the overall ministries of the church, if you would like to give beyond that to support a specific ministry or missionary, you may note that on your envelope, on your check memo line, or through your online giving choice.
