MISSIONS

In the great commission, Jesus said,

Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Part of the vision of Glad Tidings is to REACH beyond the walls of our church to reflect Christ’s character in our neighborhood, our city, and our world.

Below you will find some of the initiatives we support. You can help us REACH out to others through volunteering, praying, and financial giving.

Elementary School Outreach

Glad Tidings Church has established a partner relationship with local elementary schools for over ten years.

Our partnership began at Sutton Elementary as GT members volunteered to mentor students through Kids Hope USA. The program  eventually grew to include a 3rd Grade Reading Club, a summer lunch program, a monthly All Pro Dad breakfast and outreach, as well as providing monthly treats for teachers and volunteers for family nights, the Sutton monthly food pantry, and other school activities. Through the generous donations of Glad Tidings members, we also began to provide every child at Sutton with a backpack, school supplies, shoes, and free dental and eye exams at our annual Back to School event. Our time at Sutton came to a close in May of 2017 after multiple elementary schools were closed in Muncie.

We are pleased to now continue our elementary school partnership with Grissom Elementary School.  We are embarking on a new season of partnership, and are excited for the opportunity to serve over 600 students and teachers at Grissom.  There are currently opportunities to serve at our Back to School event, as a mentor, as a Breakfast Buddy, in the classroom weekly, and at the monthly food pantry at Grissom Elementary. Contact Paula Mangus at the church office (765.288.7309) to get involved today!

  • KIDS HOPE USA ~ mentor a child one hour each week during the school year. Training is provided.
  • Breakfast Buddies ~ Volunteers serve during breakfast time at Grissom to greet children and get their day started right!
  • Collect Box Tops for Education to help teachers earn free resources for classrooms.
  • Additional volunteer opportunities exist in classrooms, in the school office, at the monthly food pantry, and at events hosted at GT and the school.
