WHAT WE BELIEVE

Mission & Vision of Glad Tidings Church

Our mission is to develop biblically sound believers who reflect Christ’s character as we worship, learn, connect, serve, reach, and give together.

Our vision is to train young people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus, plant life giving churches, and say “yes” to every legitimate missions need

Glad Tidings began in 1919, when a group of people hungry for more of God’s presence gathered in a tent at 8th and High Streets in Muncie to worship under Maria Woodworth-Etter. Today, we continue to strive to be a congregation where everyone feels welcome and the love of God can be genuinely experienced. It is our desire to meaningfully impact Delaware County and the surrounding counties of East Central Indiana.

Our Values

Glad Tidings Church Worship

Worship

Passionate worship of God is at the heart of every ministry at Glad Tidings. Our desire is to cultivate an atmosphere where this value can be expressed to its fullest and where the presence of God is powerfully manifested.

Glad Tidings Church Learn

Learn

As a result of our vision to develop biblically sound believers, every aspect of our ministry is rooted in the teaching of God’s word.

Glad Tidings Church Connect

Connect

Meaningful relationships are a necessity for full spiritual growth, affording the believer the opportunity to carry out the many “one another” commands of the New Testament. Everyone at Glad Tidings is encouraged to participate in a small group to help in the development of this crucial part of Christian life.

Glad Tidings Church Serve

Serve

Contagious servanthood today is a value that has taken hold at Glad Tidings, whether it’s on the church campus or within our community. Multiple ministry opportunities are always available, and it is our conviction that true spiritual maturity requires a willingness to serve.

Glad Tidings Church Reach

Reach

While we carry out ministry in multiple venues and support global ministry efforts, we direct significant resources and energy to the southeast quadrant of Muncie and its school Grissom Elementary.

Give

When generous hearts respond obediently to God’s Word and His Spirit’s prompting to give, vision is realized, ministry is effective, and individuals are blessed. Faithful generosity is part of the Glad Tidings DNA and Kingdom growth and Gospel advancement result as we embrace and practice the value of giving.

Statements of Belief

The Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God whom, through His perfect life and sacrificial death, atoned for the sins of all who, by faith, trust in Him alone for salvation.

There is one God who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit indwells in all of God’s people and gives them the strength and the wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.

Spirit baptism empowers the believer to be an effective witness for Christ. This experience may accompany or be subsequent to salvation, but spirit infilling should also be the result of an ongoing relationship with Christ for the believer.

There are two ordinances for the church which were regularly observed in the New Testament: baptism of the believer in water, wherein obedience to Christ’s command is expressed and identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection are witnessed; and communion, the memorial wherein believers partake of the bread and the cup which symbolize the Lord’s body and the shed blood and thus proclaim His death until He comes.

Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.

There is a literal heaven wherein all the righteous will eternally dwell and a literal hell wherein all who reject Christ as Savior will spend eternity.
